MET Gala 2025: Celebrities Who Shined in Emerald Green
The MET Gala 2025, held on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, was a night where fashion and high jewelry merged to pay tribute to Black tailoring. Under the theme “Tailored for You,” inspired by the exhibition “Super Fine: Tailoring Black Style,” the event highlighted the elegance and distinctive style of the Black community throughout history.
This year, emeralds were the undisputed stars of the blue carpet. Internationally renowned celebrities wore unique pieces that captured everyone’s attention, cementing emeralds as the ultimate symbol of luxury and sophistication for the evening.
In this article, we’ll explore the significance of wearing Colombian emeralds at such a prestigious event and highlight the stars who dazzled in emerald green on the carpet.
What is the MET Gala?
The MET Gala is an annual fundraising event that marks the opening of the Costume Institute's fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Organized by Anna Wintour since 1995, the gala gathers the most influential figures in fashion, film, music, and art. Each edition presents a specific theme that attendees interpret through their outfits, turning the red carpet into a runway of creativity and style.
Beyond being a fashion celebration, the MET Gala serves a philanthropic purpose: raising funds for the Costume Institute, supporting the conservation and acquisition of historical fashion pieces.
The Importance of Emeralds at the MET Gala 2025
Emeralds, with their distinctive green hue and rich history, symbolize renewal, hope, and elegance. At the 2025 MET Gala, these gems not only complemented the guests’ outfits but also resonated with the event’s theme—representing the cultural richness and sophistication of Black tailoring.
The use of emeralds in this edition highlighted the connection between contemporary fashion and ancestral traditions, underscoring how jewelry can express identity and cultural heritage.
