Emeralds and Art at the 2026 Met Gala
Year after year, the world’s top celebrities gather at a gala that not only raises funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, but also allows them to unleash their imagination and impress with the best looks based on a dress code that changes with each edition of the event.
This year, the Met Gala, held on May 4, 2026, took place under the dress code “Fashion is Art,” where celebrities showcased their best looks with jewelry in which emeralds were no exception. Here, we tell you about the outfits that stood out with the allure of green.
What is the Met Gala?
The Met Gala is a very famous charity event held every year in New York City. Its full name is the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, as it raises funds for the museum’s Costume Institute.
It is widely known for its red carpet, where celebrities wear highly creative or extravagant outfits. Each year has a theme, and guests must dress accordingly. Actors, singers, designers, and influential figures attend.
Why is it important for emerald jewelry?
The Met Gala is the perfect place to see jewelry you wouldn’t normally see in everyday life… not even on other red carpets. It is the stage where the most exclusive, large, and rare pieces shine, and Colombian emeralds are often the stars.
Why? Because emeralds have something unique. In an event where everyone is trying to stand out, a great emerald can be the detail that makes a look unforgettable.
In addition, jewelry houses and designers know that the Met Gala generates global visibility. A well-chosen emerald piece not only complements an outfit but can also become a trend and elevate the symbolic value of the gemstone.
Celebrities at the 2026 Met Gala
-
Isha Ambani: Isha Ambani’s dress at the 2026 Met Gala was one of the most talked-about looks of the night, especially for its blend of luxury, art, and tradition.
She wore a custom gold sari designed by Gaurav Gupta. It was made with gold threads and entirely handcrafted by 40 artisans from India. The design had a sculptural style, almost like a moving work of art, aligned with the theme “Fashion is Art.”
The most striking part: the jewelry. Her look featured more than 1,800 carats of diamonds and emeralds inherited from her mother’s collection. A historic sarpech (turban-style jewel) with antique emeralds stood out. She also wore a necklace with a large 50 ct Colombian emerald at the center and 150 tcw of antique diamonds. - Amanda Seyfried: She shined on the red carpet with a magnificent necklace in 18k yellow gold and platinum, featuring five emerald-cut blue zircons, round cabochon emeralds, and natural diamonds.
- A$AP Rocky: The rapper wore a piece known as “Codognato,” a gold cross pendant set with diamonds, emeralds, pink sapphires, and pink tourmalines.
- Lisa from BLACKPINK: The K-pop star arrived at the gala wearing a Robert Wun dress with white beading and a veil draped over mannequin arms attached to her shoulders. She paired it with a necklace of diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, and matching earrings.
- Nia Long: The renowned actress looked more iconic than ever in a black dress that highlighted a spectacular white gold set of earrings, necklace, and ring with emeralds and diamonds.
- Jen Rubio: The entrepreneur wore a sculptural dress with a beautiful snake pendant featuring several cabochon emerald stones.
